Dear Springhill Families,

I want to welcome you to the new school year and share my excitement for all the amazing learning opportunities that our students will be able to experience this year. There seems to be an overall positive energy around the campus: both students and teachers seem happy to be back! As I shared with you already, our motto for the year is “SPRINGHILL PROUD,” and our emphasis will be on three main concepts: “Accept, Respect, and Appreciate.” Our school is committed to being an inclusive community where all students feel welcome. We celebrate and support the diversity of our school community, and believe that by doing this, we are modeling the collaboration and understanding that students will need throughout their lives to be successful in an ever-changing world. On Wednesday, we introduced all students to our new school pledge, which reflects our core values:

We Are SPRINGHILL PROUD!

We will accept, respect, and appreciate that we are all different.

We will achieve, succeed and grow as learners,

And every day we will strive to inspire and motivate others.

Springhill has always been committed to being an inclusive place for all students, regardless of race, religion, gender, ability, or nationality. Consistent with our mission, we are confident that we will all treat each other with kindness and respect. Throughout the year, this message will be conveyed in a variety of ways, including principal read-alouds and discussions, social studies lessons, and Spirit Wednesday assemblies. We will be engaging children in conversations about the value of diversity and how each individual can help create a safer, more accepting school environment in which everyone can learn and thrive. I hope that you will join our effort by continuing such conversations at home as well. As always, I appreciate all your support and encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mette Thallaug

Principal
