Superintendent Richard Whitmore will be facilitating site-based discussions during which he will describe the current goals of the Lafayette School District Strategic Plan, what’s changed since 2012, and ask critical questions for the future of the district. This is YOUR CHANCE to provide feedback and ensure that the district plan represents YOUR goals for your students and our schools.

The Board and Mr. Whitmore look forward to hearing Springhill's feedback on the Strategic Plan.

The Strategic plan impacts all our students from grades K-8!

  • The Lafayette School District adopted a Strategic Plan through an intensive process in the 2005/2006 school year, facilitated by an external consultant.
  • That plan was renewed in 2012 with a five-year horizon, and in 2017 and 2018 annual district goals were built upon the existing plan.
  • The Governing Board, while comfortable with the general structure of the plan, would like to check in with the community and ensure that the plan still represents our goals for our students and our schools.

Did you know? The Springhill PFC provides FREE childcare for your children! Parents please feel welcome to bring your children to PFC meetings and the PFC takes care of the rest! We don’t want lack of childcare to be the reason you may miss a meeting - and we hope to see you there!

Please text or email our PFC secretary, Corey Pigeon (415-377-4910secretary@springhillpfc.org) to reserve a spot!

TUES. OCT. 23rd, 2:42 - 3:45 PM

We are excited to welcome New York Times bestselling author/illustrator Nathan Hale, to Springhill on Tuesday, October 23rd.  Mr. Hale is best known for making history fun and accessible through his graphic novels.

Mr. Hale will visit with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students after school in the Springhill library, 2:42 - 3:45 PM, on Tuesday October 23.  Since this is an after school activity, a signed permission slip will be required for students to be admitted.  Parents are not required to attend as long as their student has a signed permission slip.
During his visit to Springhill, Mr. Hale will be discussing his research, writing and illustrating processes.  His newest book, Lafayette! A Revolutionary Tale, and other books from the Hazardous Tales series, will be available for purchase for this special event. Please know that your book purchases help support special events like these!
Although this event is limited to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, anyone is welcome to place book orders!  Books will be delivered to your child's classroom for them to bring home.
Please send the completed order form (here) and check, made out to Orinda Books, with your student to school or drop it in the PFC mail box in the office by October 19. Also, please make sure your student brings the signed permission slip (here) to the event; it is their ticket to meet this fabulous author!

Diverse Ability Awareness Week

November 5 - November 9

Springhill Elementary, in collaboration with our PFC and SEED, is very excited for our week of Diverse Ability Awareness! Throughout the week on campus there will be several events and activities. This is going to be a great opportunity for students to experience and learn about different abilities.  The goal of the week is to help all of our students to understand that we all have a variety of differences as well as similarities.  Some people simply need additional assistance or a different way of participating in order to function in our world.

In class, students will have the opportunity to participate in Ability Awareness exercises. Club Fit classes will experience non-dominant hand sports and the library will have a special section of books for students to check out. We will have other special events during the week:

Wednesday, November 7th: School Assembly with Sign Language

Friday, November 9th: Family Movie Night - Springhill families are invited to join us in the Multi-Purpose Room for a free showing of the movie “Pick of the Litter” 5:30-8, with Canine Companions service dogs. We will have Pizza, Popcorn, and Refreshments. Please sign up as space is limited! Signups coming soon.
